Trees, from the smallest to the largest, are perhaps the single-most-ubiquitous object that gives true majesty to earth.  I often wonder what a visitor from another planet—a planet without them—would say upon seeing them.  They ask absolutely nothing from us as they silently observe.  They have no natural defense and, before us, needed none.  To say nothing of what governments and industries do, as individuals we easily cut them down and throw them into the chopper should they cast shade in the wrong direction across our yard, or drop leaves that prove too messy to rake.

I have been photographing them for years now—portraits of sorts—to try and show the sense of wonder they give me.  Hopefully they mean something to you, too.
